Our Beliefs
First Baptist Church Orangefield is a community that desires to follow Christ and lead others to Him.
Understanding Our Purpose
More Disciples is the commitment to evangelism. Jesus said, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature” in Mark 16:15. We are committed to obeying this command here in our community, state, nation and the world. It is our desire to spread the gospel of Jesus to all who will hear.
Better Disciples speaks to personal growth. We are committed to grow in our understanding of God through His Word. This is accomplished through individual study, preaching, teaching, person to person discipleship, institute classes and ministry training.
2 Timothy 2:2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Everything we do here at First Baptist Church Orangefield should be run through these two filters.
(1) Reach the lost
(2) Grow people up in the way of the Lord
Our team
We have a great team here at First Baptist Orangefield and we can't wait to meet you. Here's a bit more about us.
Our History
In the early 1900’s, three Baptist churches existed in our area, “Old First,” in McLewis, “Evergreen Baptist” in Duncan Woods, and “Burton Baptist” in Winfree Community, but none in the Orange oil field to serve the spiritual needs of the people here—the farmers, oil field workers and their families. On August 3, 1922, at a prayer meeting and singing in the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. Cay McGill, our church was organized as a mission of the Burton Baptist Church of Winfree.
